Matt Vincent joined the Sacramento State staff in January 2018 as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance. In his role with the Hornets, Vincent will serve on the department’s executive administration team and will also make sure Sacramento State is meeting NCAA eligibility standards. Along with the staff in the compliance department, he will conduct rules education for coaches and student-athletes, prepare and submit waivers to the NCAA and work with partners on campus and in conference offices.
A native of Northern California, Vincent returns to his home state after serving as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. With the Flames, he was the primary compliance contact for men’s basketball, men’s soccer, field hockey, women’s lacrosse and women’s tennis.
Prior to working at Liberty, Vincent was the Assistant AD for Compliance at Southern Illinois (2013-15). He also had stops at Ole Miss (2009-13) and Central Michigan (2008-09).
Vincent was raised in Turlock, Calif., and graduated from Saint Mary’s with a degree in kinesiology. He played three seasons of football for the Gaels as an offensive lineman before transferring to New Mexico State for his senior season after SMC discontinued the sport. He added a master’s in higher education from Southeast Missouri State where he also served as a graduate assistant coach.
Matt and his wife Erika, who played basketball at Saint Mary’s, have two children: Uma and Magnus.
