Mattice is a true Hornet, having received her BS and MS from Sacramento State and has served as a 25-year employee of the University. She has worked for Sacramento State as a certified athletic trainer in the department of Intercollegiate Athletics since 1988 and, in 2006, was appointed associate athletics director for internal affairs/senior woman administrator. Some of the responsibilities of her current position include supervising men’s and women’s soccer, gymnastics, softball and sports medicine. During her time on campus, she served the University as a student, graduate student, staff, faculty and administrator. She recently completed service (2008-2012) to the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports, whose goals are to research, educate and advise NCAA member institutions on the best practices and safeguards that provide student-athletes with a safe and healthy competitive experience. Mattice is also a licensed physical therapy assistant and 25-year member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). She lived in Rabat, Morocco, for four years and has also called Montana, Iowa, Kentucky and California home.
