Baseball's Reggie Christiansen has been named Sacramento State's Coach of the Year. Christiansen guided the Hornets to their third Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship in the last six seasons while also winning 40 games for the second time since 2014. Christiansen helped guide the Hornets to an improbable run at the WAC Championship where the team won six straight games over a four-day span to win the title. The team advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the third time in the Div. I era, highlighted by a win over 19th-ranked UC Santa Barbara. Christiansen is now the only Div. I coach in California to win at least 30 games each of the last eight seasons. Christiansen also picked up his 400th career win in the WAC championship game.
Kenny McDaniel (Track & Field) - In his first season as head coach, McDaniel led the Hornet women to a pair of Big Sky Conference championships, winning both the indoor and outdoor titles. For his efforts, he was named the Big Sky Coach of the Year after both of those seasons. During the year, Sacramento State women combined to record a whopping 38 top 10 program marks in both indoor and outdoor. McDaniel also helped coach Shilah Bedingfield to a berth at the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
David Sutherland (Women's Golf) - Sutherland was named the Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season. He guided the Hornets to a 20-stroke win at the Big Sky Championship and a berth in the NCAA Regionals. Along with the conference title, Sacramento State was also first at the Gunrock Invitational and finished among the top four teams in seven of the 10 regular season events. The Hornets were the only team in the Big Sky to have all five members of its lineup earn all-Big Sky honors (two first team, two second team, one honorable mention). The top four players in the lineup all finished with a single-season scoring average ranked among the top 10 in program history.
