MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT PART OF FIVE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS HEADED TO SACRAMENTO

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA men's basketball tournament will be returning to Sacramento, it was announced today by the NCAA. Sacramento State and the Sacramento Sports Commission will host the first and second rounds at Golden 1 Center on March 20 & 22, 2020.

Sacramento State was also named the host of the 2019 and 2021 NCAA Div. I Cross Country West Regional, the 2022 NCAA Div. I outdoor track & field west preliminary and the 2019 NCAA Div. II cross country national championships.

"We are excited to have several NCAA championship events return to Sacramento," Sacramento State Director of Athletics Mark Orr said. "These events will showcase some of the best student-athletes in the country and are great assets for the Sacramento region."

The University and the Sports Commission have a long history of hosting NCAA Championship events in Sacramento. The two have partnered to host four NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the 2007 NCAA Div. I Women's Volleyball Final Four, a pair of NCAA Div. I Cross Country West Regionals and most recently the 2017 first and second rounds of the men's basketball tournament.
